Problem: Custom molder runs production operation lights out on the 2nd and 3rd shift. Although the molding machines were programmed to stop at the correct production count, auxiliary equipment — chillers and compressors — continued to run 24 hours a day, so utility expenses were very high. Additionally, without ability to monitor operations remotely, employees needed to visit the facility at unpredictable and inconvenient times to insure production was running properly.
Solution: ProductionACE with MDT-02 equipped with a custom “control” output was installed on each press (Machine Monitoring). Now, once all presses have gone into a “down” state, the MDT-02 outputs — all wired in series — automatically remove power to all the auxiliary equipment and production machines.
Bottom Line Results: Significant power savings and improved auxiliary equipment maintenance results. Also, because of “dial up” access to real-time factory performance/status screens from their home PC’s, management eliminates trips to inspect machines and verify that all production machines are running properly.
